Spring at the Springwater Lodge Mayne Island – 11 x 14 inch oil on canvas plein air
I like the idea of transcribing earlier photography and memory notes of a moment with paint. It is never exactly accurate but maybe possibly enough of a translation to be understood. This is of course Reef Bay on Mayne Island with its sandstone beach and winter seaweed resting on the stones. But the details are not as important to me as my desire to render the feeling of timelessness I experience in this particular place. This is what I am after. The sensation of being part of the moment rather than an observer.
Secured by its new owner about mid painting process and is on its way to California, U.S.A…..
Transcribing January’s notes from the sea – 12 x 10 inch oil on canvas
Finally, we have a wee painting that is going to a family member in Vancouver B.C., Canada. Each of our eight children has been gifted a painting for one of their birthdays. I am not able to do everyone in the same year so the painting gifts are staggered over a few years. The person receiving the gift may choose any painting, regardless of size or price, that is available in my collection. After much thought and deliberation, this is the painting of choice for this individual.
End of Today – 5 x 7 oil on canvas
So there we have it – three new paintings released and three waiting to be packaged for shipping.
May your week be filled with simple abundance!
