Earth Sea and Sky Opens

Twelve of the eighteen paintings in the Art of Terrill Welch Gallery’s hottest show of the season were completed since the beginning of 2019. (Terrill Welch has completed and released 21 new works since January 1st but who is counting? 😉 Earth, Sea and Sky is a solo exhibition that is about exactly what the title describes. It is a theme that has a deep rich vein of consistency in Terrill Welch’s work and one she is not finished with just yet! The solo exhibition runs from Friday, July 12, 2019 to Sunday September 1, 2019. Two works in this show, including the “poster painting” have sold in pre-sales. Our heartfelt thanks to the art collectors who have graciously allowed these works to be shown for the opening weekend.

And here are a few images of the new show as it was freshly prepared for this weekend.

One looking towards the window and will be the first view seen as you enter the gallery…

Sun, rain, snow, wind, frost, thunderstorms and summer-time warmth, along with the opening of lobster season and the arrival of the season’s first cruise ship, have all been part of painting sketches the east coast during the past five weeks on the Prince Edward Island in Canada. Fourteen painting sketches have been completed so far. Ten of these works have been selected to share today, along with a link to a radio interview with CBC Mainstreet PEI host Karen Mair which aired earlier this week.

These quick sketches are part of reference research for larger oil paintings and are not for sale at this time. However, prints can be made available and a link to purchase these will be provided upon request. Now, from Charlottetown to far-flung beaches on Prince Edward Island between April 27th and May 2nd 2016 …

The, slightly less than seven minute, CBC radio interview with Host Karen Mair and Artist Terrill Welch is available for online listening HERE.

Over the next few months, large oil paintings will be created back in Terrill’s Mayne Island west coast studio using these sketches and photography references and inspiration. Then, sometime in the late fall or the spring of 2017, an exhibition of “West to East Coast Canadian Landscape paintings” will be available for showing. Museums, galleries and other venues are welcome to contact the artist directly to inquire about hosting this future exhibition. Art collectors will still be able to purchase work as it becomes available, though a request may be made to include the sold work in one or two of these upcoming exhibitions.
