Open Studio preparations for Nov 14 and 15 by Terrill Welch

This year’s theme is “West Coast Waves” and there is also a 2015 calendar  by the same title. These recent paintings include my much loved Mayne Island, Point No Point and French Beach on Vancouver Island, Cannon Beach in Oregon, Howard Creek and the Arena Lighthouse in Northern California. Each work has a unique sense of place and time bringing you to the shore of the Pacific Ocean every time. I have a few of these calendars available at the event or they can be viewed and ordered online in my Redbubble storefront HERE.

THE TREE

Photograph of THE TREE was taken in Beacon Hill park, Victoria British Columbia.

This Giant Sequoia tree (Sequoiadendron giganteum) was imported from California and believed to have been planted in Beacon Hill Park around 1913.

Its large low branches are a favourite with children and adults alike.

This tree just begged for the long shot from its intricate large girth up to its gnarled great height. I am sure it is a story tree with a paragraph available in each rubbed mark on its great surface.
