The deep mauve and purple with yellow, pink and orange over the dark water of a winter sunrise brings such joy and conviction to the day. The coolness of the west coast winter air and soft slap of the waves from the sea greetings tells us we are alive. Yes, so very much alive. The quick brush strokes of a small oil painting study capture the experience. It is another painting for squared to the sea series which I started over a year ago.
Update April 23, 2013: This painting is no longer available and is going to a private collector in Victoria B.C. Canada.
This small 6 x 6 inch oil painting on gessobord with a wood cradle was the fifth painting out of six that were painted as a part of the work completed during the painting process of a larger canvas.
