A painting expressing the connections between the various elements and finding the space surrounding and holding the visual tension between land, sea and sky. The pear trees seem to reach around in the morning light reminding us that nothing is separate and all is dependent on seen and unseen influences.
This 10 x 8 inch oil on canvas is now in a private collection.
This painting is included with two others in my blog post “Doing a Henri Matisse in three new paintings” at:
http://creativepotager.wordpress.com/2013/01/02/doing-a-henri-matisse-in-three-new-paintings
Of the three, it is by far the one most akin to my usual painting style where paintbrush and palette knife work interchangeably to meet my needs.

I love the impasto like texture and the magnificent tree of strength. Wonderful work.
Thank you Shelley, I am considering painting this again as a larger work. This wee study sold shortly after it was painted. I appreciate your stopping by and welcome to my website 🙂
